Description
DESCRIPTION: "Pinup; Redhead with Teddy Bear". Earle Kulp Bergey (American, 1901-1925). Oil on canvas. Monogrammed lower left. In gilt and black frame. Earle K. Bergey was raised in Philadelphia and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He worked for the Philadelphia Public Ledger and later produced covers for the Fiction House line of pulp magazines before settling in Bucks County, PA and working as a freelance illustrator for competing publishing houses. His subjects included romance, science fiction and fantasy, adventure, aviation, mystery, crime noir, and westerns. MEASUREMENTS: 23-5/8" high x 17-1/2" wide; 1-1/2" frame. 1-1/2" area of blank canvas between the painting and the frame. CONDITION: Areas of discoloration to bottom of painting near model's knees.
