A set of Five Stools attributed to Wharton Esherick. Late 1960's The age, material and construction lead to a strong attribution to Esherick or his studio. They are hand sculpted tall stools, made of hickory and oak species with a beautiful freeform shaped seat and long tapered legs. There are no breaks or repairs to the stool and in excellent vintage condition. Wharton Esherick's Three-Legged Stools are some of his most iconic and recognizable pieces. He began producing the stools in the 1950s to supplement his income between commissions by producing affordable pieces using leftover scraps of wood which he could keep on hand for quick sales. Provenance: The Estate of Herbert and Florence Irving. [30" H x 16" W x 20" D]. In excellent vintage condition.
