Description
An American Mixed Metals Aesthetic Movement Lamp Base, Circa 1880. Faux alligator skin copper canteen form vessel atop Aesthetic feet with silver plated panels. One panel depicts children catching butterflies while the other panel depicts children sitting on a stone bridge fishing in a stream. Note the gilt accents here and there. Makers mark probably obliterated when it was converted for electric use. We attribute the work to James Tufts or Meriden. CONDITION: Very good to excellent excepting that it has been converted from an oil lamp to an electric lamp. Some loss of original surfaces here and there consistent with age and use. No breaks and no repairs.
