Description
Native American, Southern and Midwestern United States, Mississippian Culture, ca. 1200 to 1400 CE. A delightful pottery jar presenting an apple-form body, a nearly flat shoulder, and a broad, tubular neck that rises to a flared rim, all sitting upon a planar base and enveloped in a warm, apricot-hued slip. Size: 7.8" Diameter x 7.8" H (19.8 cm x 19.8 cm)
Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection; ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970's and earlier

Repaired with some losses along break lines. Restoration in areas. Nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Nice earthen deposits to interior.
