Note:
This elegant miniature amphora, stamped with decorative palmettes and spirals, is in the shape of an acorn. In ancient Greece, the acorn was closely associated with the god Zeus and the sacred site of Dodona. It was said that by the shaking of a branch from a particular oak tree at Dodona, one could summon Zeus himself. This vessel with its playful symbolism was likely used as an offering to Zeus.
