Description
ca. 1800, 105 x 142 cm, Central Anatolia, Konya
The surviving section is the upper third of a prayer kilim which was probably some 250 - 270 cms long and thus unusually large. The green-ground horizontal panel at the lower end of the fragment still shows the tip of the arch, with two large red flowers placed at its sides. Further flowers adorn the ochre panel above it. The wide white main border contains diamonds whose tips are decorated with triangles. The colours, the style of drawing and the small cone-like motifs divided horizontally in the middle suggest that this village kilim was woven in the vicinity of Obruk. – Obvious signs of age and wear, holes and missing areas. Mounted onto a brown fabric.
