VOK, IGNAZIO, Vok Collection. Caucasus-Persia. Gilim und andere Flachgewebe. Munich 1996, no. 60 = RIPPON BOSWELL, A 86, Vok Collection. Selection 1. 11 April 2015, lot 73
This large Shahsavan kilim has a field with a date in each corner and an open red ground abrashed in several shades. It was probably woven by a tribal group who lived in the Saveh area. Three huge hexagons with an interior drawing of massive double hooks surrounding a small hexagonal centre combine into a pole design on the central axis, with pendants attached at both ends. The first and third hexagons have pile-woven centres. The narrow border of reciprocal trefoils in white and brown is a characteristic feature of these kilims. – Well preserved, original finishes all around.
