Probably woven in an Armenian workshop, this long Shusha rug is a particularly colourful example. The narrow central field is covered in a repeat of wide diagonal stripes in diverse colours which are decorated with botehs and flowering plants. The blazing red main border is filled with large rounded botehs that are arranged horizontally in the vertical bands. Previously published in Schürmann’s standard work on Caucasian carpets. – Signs of age and wear, pile worn away in places, slightly damaged ends, original selvedges.
