late 20th century, Philippines, each executed in patinated wrought iron, with a curved tablet back and brass rosettes at the top of dramatically flaring saber legs, each with a padded upholstered seat, unmarked.
h. 33-1/4", w. 19-3/4", d. 22-1/2"

Notes: In the 1950s Mercedes "Ched" Berenguer-Topacio was among the first interior designers in the Philippines. She studied at the New York School of Design and earned a degree in architecture at the University of Santo Tomas. She won two Roscoe Awards for Furniture Design in the U.S.
