Born out of a necessity for for a truly deep diver watch for commercial saturation divers, the Sea Dweller was introduced with a Helium Escape Valve to allow compressed helium to exit the watch after a long dive, rather than building up pressure and popping the crystal off. Originally sold to COMEX, the French commercial diving company, Rolex later made these watches available to the public. The Double Red Sea Dweller, named for it's two lines of red text on the dial, is one of the most desirable and hard-to find models made by Rolex. The present example, in outstanding condition, is an investment grade example of this celebrated timepiece.

Dial is in excellent condition with creamy even patina to the hour markers. Case is excellent, with sharp edges and strong bevels on the lugs. Bezel insert and case have minor scratches. Bracelet is tight with minimal stretch. Movement is running at time of cataloging. Overall, the present example is in excellent condition.



Pre-owned watches, unless still in original packaging or never worn, will likely have some degree of wear and scratches. This should be expected for many of the watches offered in auction.
