Semiramis was, according to Greek legends, queen of ancient Assyria for 42 years. She is credited with the foundation of numerous cities and the construction of marvellous buildings such as Babylon, with its palaces and beautiful hanging gardens. She conquered Egypt and according to legend ascended to heaven in the form of a dove. Absolute ruler of the Assyrian Empire, she founded or rebuilt the most beautiful and famous city in the East and the world, "Babylon", in the marshes of the Euphrates.
On the occasion of the foundation of "Montblanc de la Culture", Montblanc launched the Montblanc "Semiramis" fountain pen in 1996 in a worldwide limited edition of 4810 fountain pens.
Every detail of the fountain pen shows the same dedication that made the master craftsmen of ancient Babylon famous. The barrel is made of black Montblanc precious resin and surrounded by delicate gold-plated filigree work.
The nib is made of 18-karat gold with a medium-sized tip.
