Issue 24 is signed on the front cover by Bob Kaufman, beneath his photograph. very scarce long run of Bob Kaufman's important and influential publication, containing work from most all of the essential voices of the Beat movement. No. 35, the final regular issue, is specially bound in leather and handmade paper-covered boards. Also included is a xeroxed copy of the rare first issue, published in 1959.
Bob Kaufman's began Beatitude magazine in 1959 with John Kelley, and William Margolis. Beatitude published many poets not considered acceptable by the established publishers of the era, many for the first time. Although the first incarnation of the magazine only published 17 issues, it has resurfaced in various formats over the years, and has had a lasting impact on the Beat literary movement nationally. Over the years the magazine has published work by nearly all of the major figures in the Beat Movement.
