Carved Wood Door Pediment w 4 Relief Shields. Attributed to Renaissance door pediments with family shields. Door pediments back in the 15th c. would consist of a familys shield to help identify who lived in said house hold. This piece consists of 4 differentiating shields & garland reliefs, an Angel with a childlike face overlooking the shields, which would as well over look the doorway walking into the home, almost as a guardian. This piece also has touches of gilding to it and painting of the wood. There is surface wear to this piece with former repairs that have been made to it.
