Description
Large promotional poster designed by Rick Griffin in 1974. Alfred E. Newman became the popular logo of Mad Magazine from the 1950s, and continued to be an influence on 1960s psychedelic poster artists. This was produced as a promotional poster for the band "Man" issuing their 1974 LP Slow Motion on United Artists Records & Tapes. This is the slightly more common version of this poster, since the full Alfred faced posters were only printed in extremely small quantities. This half face of Alfred we have here was printed in larger quantities to promote the LP release, since MAD MAGAZINE's Bill Gaines did not approve of the use of Alfred's face in full to appear on the final promo poster. Scarce these days, even in this format!
