Two stoneware Fort Edward bird crocks. The first, 3 gallon decorated with a blue bird on branch with the impressed mark of "NEW YORK STONEWARE CO. FORT EDWARD. N.Y." - 6" crack extending from rim on back of crock, spalling near base, small tight hairline along edge of base, and reinforcing wire wrapped around circumference of crack under rim; the second, 2 gallon decorated with a blue bird on branch, with the impressed mark of "OTTMAN BRO'S CO. FORT EDWARD. N.Y." - several chips along top edge, small chip to one ear, otherwise good condition. Provenance: From the Doris and Jerry Soldner collection, Lake Carmel NY (formally of Kingston NY).
