Description
Three wooden Shaker berry baskets with tin hoops across the flared rim and around the base, combined with 8 strawberry shaped pin cushions that were stored in the smaller basket. One of the larger baskets with the impressed mark of "L Bassett / D. Cooks Pat. July 12, 1859 / New Haven CT." - partial loss to one finger, else very good condition - 4 1/2"H x 5 3/4" diameter; the other larger basket with the same patent but signed "L. Mansfield" and also initialed in ink by Shaker member "E.M." - several finger losses and break in the rim hoop - each 4 5/8"H x 5 3/4" diameter; the smallest basket is unsigned and in very good condition without damage and measures 3 7/8"H x 4 3/8" diameter. The strawberries all in very good condition. Provenance: From the Doris and Jerry Soldner collection, Lake Carmel NY (formally of Kingston NY).
