Description
Victor Vasarely (1906-1997)
Talia, 1987
Acrylic paint on wood multiple, painted on all sides, signed in ink, twice, and numbered 7/100 (the edition was numbered out of 100 but only 30 were created), published by Circle Fine Art Corporation, Chicago/New York.
75 x 12 x 12in (190.3 x 30.5 x 30.5cm)
Footnotes:
Vasarely's fascination with spatial illusion (what he called 'kinetic plasticity') eventually led him to create three-dimensional sculptures of which Talia, was his largest and most ambitious. Created in 1987, when the artist was 80 years old, the sheer complexity of the stenciling and hand-painting led to the creation of only 30 works, rather than the 100 planned (although the artist numbered each one from the edition of 100).
