Description
Louis XVI Style Gilt and Gesso Curved Glass Vitrine, early 20th c., the relief decorated stepped oval top over a center door with a curved glass upper panel over a relief decorated gilt and gesso lower panel, flanked by like sides, with three plate glass shelves within, H.- 58 in., W.- 30 in., D.- 16 in. Provenance: The Estate of Carroll Bowers, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. One minor area of loss to gilt and gesso along the bottom center. No key is present, but door easily opens and stays shut. Decorative interior rope trim would benefit from replacement or re-attaching in some areas. An impressive example.
