Description
Hungarian Zsolnay Eosin Porcelain Spaniel Dog Figurine c.1950's. This gorgeous figurine of an Airedale Terrier was created in the Zsolnay factory in Hungary. Its' unique coloring, a mix of green blue and gold, was achieved by using eosin, which means "the light of the dawn" in Greek. Introduced in 1893, this process uses a glittering ceramic glaze to emphasize certain parts of the figurine with glimmer. This gives the piece an iridescent, metallic look, that has become the unique hallmark of Zsolnay porcelain, animal figurines.
