Western Europe, Germany, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful armorial plate made by Koch and Bergfeld, a German silversmith. The plate is of a simple and elegant form with a slightly flared wall and a shallow basin. The family crest is stamped in the center and consists of a shield with two lions and flowers within the four panels. The verso is stamped with assay and maker marks: "16176" and the chalice symbol for Koch and Bergfeld of Bremen, and the German standard of silver purity, "800" to the left of a with a crescent moon and crown.
