Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo, ca. late 20th century CE. A gorgeous ring with a sterling silver (95% silver) bezel and a large turquoise stone. The stone is ovoid with natural brown inclusions and set in a cup-shaped bezel with a serrated border that looks like leaves, and below this is a twisted wire applied along the edge. A large triangular leaf shape is applied to the top and slightly overhangs the edge of the stone. The shank is comprised of two pieces with split ends that are applied to the verso of the ring bezel. The band is cut in the middle, which makes the ring size adjustable. A unique hand-made piece that has developed a nice patina and is wearable! Wearable as shown. Shank split in two near midsection; this seems to have been intentional to make the ring somewhat adjustable. Minor abrasions to body and turquoise, with slight bending to some elements of top face around turquoise. Nice patina throughout.
