Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of ceramic vessels from one of the shaft tomb cultures. First, a deep bowl standing on three shallow tripod legs, with a slightly flared, rolled rim, burnished a deep, orange-red color. Second, a rounded vessel with a very narrow corseted neck, a wide, flaring rim, and a raised band separating the upper and lower bodies. This second vessel is painted with a simple geometric motif of dots and lines in white, dark red, and light red. Size: 4.55" W x 3.55" H (11.6 cm x 9 cm)
