**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE; Central Asia, Iran, Persian / Islamic Culture, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A set of eight colorful Chinese enameled porcelain teacups and 6 Persian silver cups or shot glasses, each covered in Meenakaari enamel. The teacups have a petite ring foot and deep bowl, their interiors painted a rosy pink, and a brass sheet trim is added to the rims and ring foot of each. The exterior of each exhibits cobalt blue hues and colorful flowers - peonies and lotus blooms, with grape clusters. The 6 shot glasses are painted with intricate Meenakaari (Minakari) enamel over the copper and 67% silver surface. The emerald-green and white arabesque trellis pattern surrounds two cusped cartouches: one with a bird perched in flowers, and the famous blue Shah Mosque in Isfahan Iran - a masterpiece of Islamic architecture! Condition
Loss to silver plate on base of one shot glass. Chips and abrasions to enamel, but overall excellent preservation to motifs. Some dark toning and patina on interior. Brass ring loosening from base and chip to exterior enamel of one Chinese cup. Chips to enamel under rim of a second cup. Other than some discoloration and minor abrasions, the rest are intact and very good. Bright colors throughout.
