Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A long section of a mummy wrapping; a textile piece of interwoven fibrous threads. The cloth is still flexible and soft - attesting to the longevity assured by Egyptian burial practices. By the time of the Late Dynastic period, the elaborate Egyptian funerary rituals were not only for the elite but other members of society as well, allowing more classes into the privileged afterlife. Size: 25.125" L (63.8 cm)
Provenance: ex-Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
