19th century A.D. A circular glazed and enamelled ceramic plaque in the form of a 'plate' depicting a young Spanish lady of the Armada period, wearing a close-fitting blue cap embellished with gold jewels, a dark, high-necked and ruffed dress and a magnificent golden necklace with pearl-set pendant; the plaque set within the original finely cast and bronzed metal surround depicting four pairs of cherubs on swags of fruit divided by scrolls; with a loop to reverse for hanging. 1.28 kg, 30.7 cm wide (12 1/8 in.)
