9th-17th century A.D. A mixed group of artefacts comprising: a 16th-17th century shield-shaped mount or sword belt fitting with scalloped lower edge, hook above and three rivets, moulded foliate motifs to the front face; a 15th century crescentic strap end with one incomplete arm, rivets for attachment, incised geometric ornament to one face; a 14th century, Meols type 6 buckle composed of a rectangular plate with three rivets and remains of gilding, oval-shaped buckle, bar with transverse grooves and articulate tongue; a 9th-10th century finger ring with D-section body with tapering ends, which originally overlapped; a jetton dated 1441-1467 A.D., 'Arms of France Modern' obverse type, Mitchiner no. 565/566; a coin weight for the second coinage double crown of James I, dating c.1604-1619, Obv: crowned bust facing right surrounded by the inscription I R M BRITAN, Rev: double crown with XI/s below; an incomplete spur terminal dated 1500-1700, with a tapering body and two loops at the terminal; an incomplete buckle plate dated 1200-1400, rectangular in plan with remains of gilding and rivet holes, zoomorphic motif at centre; an incomplete harness pendant dated 1150-1500, sub-circular in plan, decorated with gilt geometric motifs and partial remains of an animal with claws. 72 grams total, 16-57 mm (3/4 - 2 1/4 in.) Found with the use of a metal detector near Lavenham, Great Whelnetham, and Brettenham, Suffolk, UK, from 1 March 2014 - 10 January 2018. Property of a Suffolk, UK, collector.
