Hazel Massey was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1907. Known for her impressionist landscape paintings of the Texas Hill Country and its wildflowers, she studied oil painting at Ursuline Convent, Brownsville, and took art classes at Rockport School of Fine Art and Trinity University. Massey was an active painter in San Antonio, Texas, in the 1950s and 1960s. During her lifetime, her paintings were exhibited in the Witte Museum, Panhandle-Plains Museum, Coppini Academy, McNamara-O€â„¢Connor Museum, and the Annual Western Art Shows at the Freeman Coliseum.
