Description:
Printed broadside announcement on thick paper (or thin card stock), regarding Japanese Internment, 1942. 56x35.5 cm (22x14").
Public Proclamation No. 7, June 8, 1942, from Headquarters, Western Defense Command and Fourth Army, ratifying and confirming Civilian Exclusion Orders Nos. 1 to 99, that "All citizens of Japan and all persons of Japanese ancestry, both alien and non-alien... are hereby excluded from all portions of Military Area No. 1." There is a list of designated classes of individuals temporarily exempted or deferred from exclusion and evacuation - all others must "report in person to the nearest Wartime Civil Control Administration Assembly Center" - those who fail to do so will be subject to immediate apprehension and internment. This poster is quite rare, not to be confused with the May 5, 1942, Civilian Exclusion Order No. 41, issued in San Francisco. We could find no copies if the present poster listed in OCLC.
