sturdy and solid overall, with wonderfully patterned inlay; the top and sides with some splitting commensurate with age and use, the top also with some old scratches toward the back edge; there are three diamond-shaped patches to three corners of top, probably where it was repinned to base; some occasional dark stains to top, including two areas to back corners near back edge; losses to string inlay throughout, especially along edges, and some areas with loose string inlay elements; brasses possibly original (or period appropriate replacements), with darker areas beneath present brass plates, and using the original screw holes; some scuffing to legs commensurate with age and use, with a noticeable abrasion to left edge of left- most facing front leg; a few patches to veneer along serpentine front top; right center door with detached escutcheon, but one loose one is present (in bag); left facing front door with later wood strip applied along edge (with nails) to hide the gap between the doors; the center interior portion with later felt applied to surfaces for silver storage; sold with a later key that functions for the bottom section (not drawers).
