Edward Teller, Hungarian "Father of the Hydrogen Bomb" Signed Photo
Measuring 8" x 10", No place, undated. A color photograph of Edward Teller, dressed in a wool suit and holding his glasses, signed "Edward Teller" in black ink. With faint edge discoloration, but overall very fine. Boldly signed. Accompanied by a COA from R&R Enterprises Autograph Auctions.
Hungarian-born American physicist Edward Teller (1908-2003) was popularly known as "the father of the hydrogen bomb" because of his significant contributions to its study from the mid-1940s to the early 1950s. Teller had been recruited for the Theoretical Division of the Manhattan Project during World War II, and worked on fission, fusion, and viable implosion mechanisms. He became a vocal advocate of the hydrogen bomb after the war ended, but his credibility was marred by his volatile personality and poor interpersonal relations. His controversial negative testimony against colleague and former Los Alamos Laboratory Director J. Robert Oppenheimer during the Oppenheimer security hearing led to him being ostracized by the majority of the scientific community.
