Description
Sergey Korolev (1907-1966) Ukrainian engineer. Korolev was a lead Soviet rocket engineer and spacecraft designer during the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s. He is regarded by many as the father of practical astronautics. He was involved in the development of the R-7 Rocket, Sputnik 1, and launching Laika and the first human being, Yuri Gagarin, into space. 8” x 11 ½” typed letter, in Russian, 1965, with his autograph note signed in the left margin. The letter, from an individual named Azarov, is a request for 200 rubles for help for a school for blind children. Korolev writes in the margin, in Russian: “Take steps, I ask that you report back to me. Need to think this through and give me some recommendations. Korolyev.” Minor paper-loss in the margins, break at folds.
