Pair of 19th century Chinoiserie style side chairs with upholstered cushions, scalloped trim on the rounded seat back, and papier mache accents of scrolled foliage and bird motifs. The chairs are constructed with cabriole legs carved in the shape of leaves to mirror the papier mache scrolled foliate designs. The back of the chair is further ornamented with papier mache scrolled foliate. Please note of wear consistent with age including minor finish loss, chips, patina, and craquelure to the papier mache surface. The chairs measure 23.50"W x 20"D x 35"H.
