Here is an incredible 1982 or 1985 Fender Rosewood Telecaster, Made in Japan. SERIAL NUMBER: A062386. COLOR: Rosewood Finish. WEIGHT: 9lbs 4.0ozs (4kg/200g). The collector believes this was Fender’s first attempt at recreating the Rosewood Telecaster that is based on the Rosewood Telecaster George Harrison had received back in 1968. 100% original, no modifications. This Rosewood Telecaster was made to specifications to the one George Harrison received. This year Fender recently released the George Harrison Rosewood Telecaster which is great however the actual guitar in this listing precedes Fender’s recent run by over 37 years. This guitar is beautiful, very well made by Fender Japan. This guitar has been lightly played and very well taken care of. It is in excellent vintage condition. The body has no scratches, dings, or dents. The pickguard has some pick swirling. Stamped in the neck pocket cavity reads 69-98E. This is where we are having difficulty dating this Rosewood Telecaster. According to our information the stamped bridge serial number of A062386 denotes a Japan manufactured year of 1985. One pot code is stamped 1378227 denoting the CTS Co. dated the 27th week of 1982 while the other pot is stamped 137822? (not sure of the last digit due to solder but we assume it’s matching to the other pot). Therefore, we are undecided whether this guitar was made in 1982 or 1985. The US Fender factory was closed in 1985 to build their new factory which opened in 1986, so it is possible they sent parts (meaning the pots) to Japan to continue building guitars. Needless to say, its at least a 1985 if not earlier. The Rosewood neck is gorgeous. There are a few very small nicks, one on the underside of the neck, one on the back of the headstock, and one on the upper side of the headstock, very hard to tell and obviously does not affect playability. Ink stamped at the butt reads TL 69-98. MADE IN JAPAN decal also located just above the butt. Originals vintage style tuners that still show their shine. Neck has a 7.25 radius, medium U shape profile. Frets have a little bit of wear but plenty of life left. Here’s your opportunity to acquire a beautiful vintage Rosewood Telecaster.
