Vintage hand painted bisque porcelain piano baby figurine, unmarked. During the last two decades of the Victorian era, most well-decorated homes had a shawl on the piano. Bisque figurines of cute little babies were designed to help hold the shawl in place, as well as adding a decorative accent. They were manufactured by numerous companies well into the 20th century and ranged in size from 6 to 18 inches. They are of specific collector interest and referred to by collectors as Piano Babies.

The figurine is 6.3/4" [17.2cm] tall, c.4" x 4" [10.2cm]; no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, very good/ fine condition.

Crawling, sitting, lying on their back playing with their toes, Piano Babies came in a variety of poses to keep you company during piano practice.
