An elegant domed and shiny butter dish by Rockford Silver Plate Company from Rockford, Connecticut. There is still some silver and the piece has shined up nicely.The heavy silverplated butter dish has an insert to keep the butter from contact with the ice, and a high-domed lid. The lid has etched floral spray designs on both sides with a knob finial at the top. It rests snugly on the insert. The body has a molded floral border along the mouth and handles with molded flowers. There are two prongs for holding a butter knife on one side of the dish. The butter knife is missing. The base has a very shallow foot with a slightly recessed base.There is a stamped mark on the base center that reads ROCKFORD SILVER CO. encircling a set of scales. Above the circle is the word QUADRUPLE and the production number 972.MEASUREMENTS8 ¼” (21.0 cm) wide x 6” (15.2 cm) diameter x 6 ½” (16.5 cm) tall.
