Antique Spot Motif Sampler Dated 1786, Netherlands

worked in multi-color silk threads on linen, top register with cartouche enclosing maker's initials "LVG" and date of 1786, the well balanced composition with a variety of floral motifs, crowns, and trees and a center cornucopia with a carnation bloom, the whole within a finely worked strawberry border, conservation mounted and presented in a painted black and gold cove molded frame.
Sight size 14 x 18.5 in.; 18.5 x 22.75 in.
Purchased October 2010 from M. Finkel & Daughter and accompanied by photocopy of sales receipt.
