Description
Extra fine group of 19th century German Dresden porcelain plates and covered sauces; each piece hand enameled with delicate polychrome floral clusters and sprays, also with gilt scrolling / borders, central decorative cartouche to plates boasting a butterfly, edge work lightly raised and scalloped, handles to sauces with lamb's heads and cornucopias accented with grape clusters and grape leaves. Set is comprised of four double-handled 9.5" x 10.5" serving plates with squared decorative centers, four single-handled 9.5" x 8.5" cake plates with round decorative centers, sixteen 9.5" x 8.5" double-handled luncheon plates with round decorative centers, and two 8" W (at widest) x 7" H double-handled covered sauces with attached under plates (ladles not present), 26 pieces total. No manufacturer's marks, pattern mark only to bottoms (1641) with eleven protective cotton dividing pads which are marked Davis Collamore & Co, Fifth Avenue & 48th, New York. Condition very good for age with no chips or cracks, very mild rubbing to gilt in areas but not significant.
