Chinese 18th Century Soft Paste Crackle Porcelain Cream Colored Bowl with 3 sets of Archaistic Phoenix Birds carved to the outside between thunder cloud border at mouth and over-lapping petals at bottom, the base with unglazed wide "Bi" ring between glazed foot ring and small glazed center; together with a high quality French Ormolu gilt bronze round stand, probably 18th Century, on 4 feet well chased with twisting line rings centered with flowers and acanthus leaf feet. Height of bowl 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm.). Diameter of bowl 25.5 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased Artcurial Auction, Paris Lot 69, 11 Juin 2012, Sale 2159 and catalogued as 17th - 18th Century.
Condition
The porcelain with light age related wear, a few crackle lines to mouth are possibly short hairlines, 2 small frits to foot ring, 2 chips to mouth edge, 1 re-stuck with slight glaze loss, 1 possibly with infill and old over-painting.
