Description
Bamileke Ndop cloth, Mali. Resist dyed homespun fabric in soft, somewhat coarse weave, with fringe. Approx. 94" x 52". Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA. Acquired in the 1970s by Mr. Odom, who purchased a number of antique Indonesian textiles from Anita E. Spertus and Robert J. Holmgren, authors of "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures", published 1989 in conjunction with the exhibit "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.
