Provenance: Hazel Sebring Cliff, daughter of Oliver H. Sebring (one of the five brothers that founded the town of Sebring, Ohio)
Gifted by the above to Cory Julyn Phalen, her great grandchild, 1969


Notes: The very faint ink notations on the label affixed to the verso of the support board read: Title: Tea in the Garden / Artist: L. E. Van Gorder / Address: 501 Euclid Ave, Toledo, OH / Agent: Wm S Budworth & Son. William Sylvester Budworth was described in his 1938 "New York Times" obituary as an artist and former head of the New York packing and shipping company of the same name.
Condition
Generally good condition. The colors fresh. Pale, even toning throughout. Time staining at the extreme sheet edges. As described, the painting is laid to board. Backboard staining to the verso of the support board.
