Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Oaxaca, Zapotec culture, Monte Alban, ca. 100 BCE to 200 CE. A wonderful pair of pottery cylinder vessels, both enveloped in a rich gray slip. Each of the ancient vessels present thin walls that rise to a circular rim above a deep basin, all supported by a planar base. A horizontal band of incised abstract geometric designs, perhaps representing glyphs, adorns the area just below each rim. Size of larger: 4.7" Diameter x 8.8" H (11.9 cm x 22.4 cm)

Both repaired from several pieces with break lines visible. Chip to rim of larger. Both have expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, both are excellent with impressive remaining detail.
