Japanese Woodblock Print, 1950, published by Kyoto Hanga-In, Carver: Endo Kokyoku. Printer: Ito Tomoro.
SIZE IN INCHES: dai-oban, 17.5 x 20.5 inches
COMMENTS: The print was made without the black key-block lines in order to simulate the soft, watercolor look.
INSHO DOMOTO was born in Kyoto. He graduated from the Kyoto Municipal School of Painting in 1921. He contributed regularly to the official, juried Teiten exhibitions and won several prizes. After the end of the Pacific War his reputation spread to an International audience with exhibitions in Italy, France and the USA. In 1961 he was awarded with the Order for Cultural Merit.
