Greek Cypriot Limestone Head,Ca. 1000-600 B.C. Carved white limestone head originally from a full figure of a youthful male. The large eyes, carved in archaic style, are slightly raised, the bold nose between and firm lips bearing traces of red pigment. Incised hair with diadem holding the relief bangs which hang in ringlets on the smooth forehead. Tan surface patina. a few scattered small chips. Mounted on a black marble, veined block base.Size: 3-1/8”H. x 2-1/8”W.Provenance:Collection of Edmund Bourke, MD., Yonkers, NY. acquired about 1994..
