Description
lost wax h 20x18 cm Salvatore Bonajuto is a contemporary artist born in Catania on January 18, 1963. He learns the techniques of ceramics with Rita Papale, painting lessons with D'Inessa and watercolor with Alessandra Bruno. His debut in the world of art took place in the seventies when he participated with his first works in a collective exhibition held in Mascalucia entitled 'Encounter with painting'. Over the years he participates in various exhibitions and sells important works in his homeland and throughout Italy. In 2001 he took care of the restoration of the Bonajuto chapel, one of the few Byzantine buildings that survived the terrible earthquake of 1693, in Catania. He has exhibited in the symbolic places of his city such as the Palazzo della Cultura and the Ursino Castle. In his works there is a strong reference to his homeland but also to one of the most important themes of contemporary society which are gender identity and violence against women. In his works he uses different materials, with both smooth and rough surfaces as a testimony of suffering, of the mortification of the flesh and of the spirit, but at the same time of the redemption of woman. Green patinated bronze, lost wax. Unique work. This lot is subject to Artists Resale Rights
