Important portrait miniature of Antonio Guzman Blanco, president of Venezuela from 1870-1877, 1879-1884, and 1886-1887, who spent his later years in Paris, France; the portrait framed by 4 old European cut sapphires (measuring approximately 5mm in diameter), 56 old rose cut diamonds (measuring approximately 2mm in diameter), and 4 half cut natural pearls (measuring approximately 5mm in diameter) in a scrolled and finely engraved 18K gold foliate border, circa 1850s/1860s.
