Lot of Eight (8) Interesting Cyclist or Sparrow Single Shot Pistols, of French and Belgian mfg., many of which were tested in Germany showing crown-''U'' proofmarks, in various calibers from 4mm to 6mm. (Also known as 6mm Besquette). Many collectors believe that these pistols were given away free with the purchase of a bicycle from the 1880s to 1900, as well as offered in bushel baskets at local marketplaces and sold cheaply. Exported all over Europe, some feature a guillotine breach with ejector; others much more simple. Both long, short, single and double barrels are represented. Interesting, with countless variations.
