Undeniably one of Alessandro's greatest works, "Sing for Me” will mark the Argentinian-American's debut at auction.
From a single-owner collection, the work was acquired directly from the artist for $7,500 (asking price was $15,000) by the present owner in 2009 right after the New York Times article came out.

Alessandro Pappalardo is a self-taught painter and photographer based in New York City.
Using music and poetry as source material, he integrates lyrics and calligraphic imagery into his paintings through multiple layers of paint and texture in a neo- expressionist style.
As is his custom, "Sing for Me” is based on one of Argentina's most famous tangos.
Unlike most tangos which often veer toward the somber and melancholy, El Día Que Me Quieras is that rare tango whose spirit aims for nothing less than a distillation of pure love. It is considered one of the greatest Latin American songs of the 20th century.
"Sing for Me" (El Dia Que Me Quieras) is a prime example of how the Argentinian-American weaves his favored subject matter into his style with its sweeping brushstrokes and gestural marks in blue, black, and white hues resulting in a composition that is simultaneously controlled and brimming with vitality.
