Description
Etruscan ca. 700 B.C..Light yellow clay, red matt glaze. H. 10.7 cm.Squat vessel with a high mouth that is offset on the inside, vertical handles and a low ring-foot. Typical Italo-Geometric decoration: horizontal and vertical stripes, a metope with hatched chevrons on each shoulder, swastikas and crosses. Rim of mouth and handles painted. The interstices at the handles in reserve. Small hole at the foot, probably due to firing, otherwise undamaged. Matt glaze abraded in places.Formerly Priv. coll. K. A., Riehen, Switzerland. Thence by descent in the family.
