Description
1846 1ed Annals of the West American Revolution INDIANS Frontier Warfare MAPS
Annals of the West is a rare, pre-Civil War account of various wars and battles fought on the American frontier during the westward expansion, many of which included fights between frontiersmen and Native American Indians – Iroquois attacks, Chickasaws against French colonists, etc. This 1846 edition features the expected, yet still impressive, maps – a map of Louisiana and the Mississippi Valley, and a Map of Kentucky.
Other important topics covered in this book include European explorers discoveries of parts of America – Ponce de Leon discovering Florida, De Soto reaching Mexico, La Salle in Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. But perhaps the most notable part of this work is a thorough description of the American Revolution and treaties signed between the United States and England, as well as those signed between Indians and the Americans.
