Description
Frederick "Fred" Plaut was a recording engineer for Columbia Records 1940's - 1960's and photographer . His work as a recording engineer for Cloumbia Records allowed him many opportunities to photograph recording artists in the studios and on location while they were relaxing , performing , or listening to playback of recording sessions. The result is candid portraits of the great conductors, orchestras, soloists, musicians and writers. Plaut's photographs have been exhibited at several mueseums, including seven exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. One of several lots of Fed Plaut's iconic photographs in this sale. This lot consists of six photographs: Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) American conductor, measures 13 1/4" by 10 3/4", three Bruno Walter (German born conductor) Photographs - 2 photos measure 9 3/4" by 8" the third measures 7 1/2" by 9", a large photo 14" by 11" of Bruno Walter and Isaac Stern, plus a Dimitri Mitropoulos (Greek conductor)13 1/4" by 10 1/2" photo .
